Who Can Join The Housing Register
|
You must be over the age of 16 to apply to join the Housing Register.
BUT
The law says you can only go on the Register if you are eligible.
PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ELIGIBLE INCLUDE:
-
Asylum seekers who are waiting for a decision;
-
People whose immigration status does not allow them to apply to services which depend on public funds and
-
People who have previously been guilty of unacceptable behaviour. This could include anti-social behaviour or neighbourhood nuisance.

These pages give a simple general summary. Housing law and policy is very complicated and individual cases may not follow this pattern. Ring Housing Advice for help if you are uncertain.
