The Types of Property You Can Bid For


Applicants are eligible to bid for the following property sizes:

 

 SIZE OF HOUSEHOLD NUMBER OF BEDROOMS
 Single person/ couple (no dependents)  Studio/ 1-bedroom
 Single person/ couple (access to children)  Studio/ 1-bedroom/ some 2 beds (note 1)
 Two adults (not couple)  2 bedrooms
 Applicant(s) and one dependent child  2 bedrooms
 Applicant(s) and two dependent children  2 or 3 bedroom
 Applicant(s) and three dependent children 3 bedroom, 3 bedroom parlour or 4  bedroom
 Applicant(s) and four dependent children (note 2) 3 bedroom, 3 bedroom parlour or 4 bedroom 
 Applicant(s) and five dependent children (note 2) 3 bedroom parlour, 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom
 Applicant(s) and six dependent children (note 2) 3 bedroom parlour, 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom
 Applicant(s) and seven or more children (note 2) 4 bedroom, 5 bedroom, 6 bedroom 

 1.     2 bedroom properties, usually flats, will be made available to single people and couples depending upon the prevailing policy of the district scheme, which will reflect demand for two bedroom flats, houses and bungalows from families across the sub-region. In the Vale, such properties may be available to people with child access.

  2.   Dependent on size and makeup of the family. Preference usually given for larger families.

  3.   A parlour house has a separate dining room that could be converted for use as a bedroom.

  4.   Applicants in Band 1 categories for Under-occupation, Succession and Decants may be permitted to bid for properties larger than they are entitled to in the above table, provided they will be moving to a smaller property than the one they currently occupy.

  5.  Where a woman is pregnant, the baby can be counted for the purpose of the bedroom eligibility table, at three months pregnancy with documentary evidence.

  6.   In some cases, an applicant may be skipped for a particular property type. For example, where someone has been awarded medical priorty due to the fact they cannot manage stairs they will not be offered a house.
