Sometimes older people prefer to live among people of a similar age, or need a little extra help with everyday living. (This does not refer to nursing home or residential care, which is not included in this scheme). Older people's property is available as follows:

For People Who Need Special Adaptations
- Some homes have been designed or adapted for people with specific needs.
- These are usually offered to applicants where a member of the household has such a need.
- However, where there is nobody on the Housing Register with such a need, the property can be allocated to the person who has most priority.
